Kevin Randleman, former UFC heavyweight champion, died at the age of 44 on February 11, 2016. He was admitted to a San Diego hospital with pneumonia and eventually died as a result of heart failure caused by complications from pneumonia. Randlemans family confirmed the news on his Facebook page, and UFC President Dana White also confirmed the news on his Twitter feed. Randleman was a two-time NCAA Division I and a three-time Big Ten wrestling champion out of Ohio State University, and he competed in the heavyweight and light heavyweight classes in MMA. He won the UFC heavyweight title in November 1999, successfully defended the belt once before dropping it in November 2000 to Randy Couture. Randleman fought for a number of different brands, including Pride and Strikeforce, and his professional MMA record reads 17 wins and 16 defeats, with nine of his victories coming by knockout or submission.
