Kevin Spacey, a two-time Oscar-winning actor known for his movie and TV roles including “House of Cards,” has been accused of sexual assault by multiple individuals. In July 2023, Spacey was acquitted of all nine charges against him, including seven counts of sexual assault, one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, and one count of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent. The charges related to four men who accused Spacey of offenses dating back to the period between 2001 and 2013, during which time Spacey was artistic director of Londons Old Vic theater. The verdict came after almost four weeks of hearings. Spacey denied all charges, and described the allegations against him as a "stab in the back". His defense was that he was a "big flirt" who had consensual flings.

It is important to note that being acquitted of charges does not necessarily mean that the allegations are false or that the accusers are lying. It simply means that the prosecution did not prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt.
