Kyren Lacy, a former LSU wide receiver and NFL draft hopeful, died by an apparent suicide at age 24 during a police pursuit in Houston. The incident occurred after Lacy was involved in a verbal argument with a family member during which he fired a gun into the ground. When authorities attempted to stop his vehicle, he fled, leading to a chase that ended with a crash. Upon approaching his car, officers found Lacy had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound sustained prior to the crash
. Earlier, in December 2024, Lacy was involved in a fatal car accident in Louisiana where he was accused of reckless driving, causing a crash that killed a 78-year-old man. He was charged with negligent homicide, felony hit- and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle and was due to appear before a grand jury shortly after his death
