Maxine Carr was the girlfriend of Ian Huntley, who was convicted of the murders of two schoolgirls, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, in 2002. Carr provided a false alibi for Huntley during the investigation and was found guilty of conspiring to pervert the course of justice. She was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison and served 21 months of her sentence before being released on probation from Foston Hall prison in Derbyshire on May 14, 2004. Carr was released under a lifetime anonymity order with a new identity for her protection. She is one of only four former UK prisoners protected by a lifelong anonymity order. Carrs location and identity cannot be revealed while she is alive. In March 2020, Carr had to go into hiding after her alias, location, and work details were posted online with a recent photo. The post has since been deleted, and Carr was moved by police to a safe house. In 2014, it was reported that Carr had gotten married to her boyfriend in a wedding ceremony attended by both their families.
