Chuck Todd, the host and moderator of NBCs "Meet the Press," announced on June 4, 2023, that he would step down from the show after nine years of hosting the public affairs talk show. Todds final broadcast as host of the show was on September 10, 2023, where he interviewed Senator Bill Cassidy and California Governor Gavin Newsom. Todd plans to remain at NBC in a new role as chief political analyst, where he will serve as a key voice both in the field and during coverage of major events. He will also focus on long-form journalism. Todds successor as host of "Meet the Press" is Kristen Welker, NBC News co-chief White House correspondent and co-anchor, who has been with the network since 2010. Todd praised Welker and said that she was "the right person in the right moment" to take over as host. Todds bosses at NBC have been complimentary of his legacy, hailing him for leading "Meet the Press" through "an era of digital expansion and audience growth".
