The original Jake from State Farm was Jake Stone, an actual employee of State Farm who answered a casting call and landed the role. He was working as an insurance agent for the company when he was cast in the commercial. However, the new face of State Farm, also named "Jake," is a completely different guy named Kevin Miles, who is a professional actor. According to Forbes, Miles went from sleeping in his car when he first moved to Los Angeles to become a star in commercials, working with Drake. The reason for the change was that State Farm wanted someone who could be more of an actor and spokesperson for the company, rather than an actual employee who would wind up being a meme and, essentially, a joke. Jake Stone seems to have quit State Farm on good terms, and he did reappear in a 2020 commercial despite not working for them anymore.
