According to the Star Wars storyline, Padmé Amidala died soon after giving birth to twins Luke and Leia. During her final moments, she was declared medically healthy but had lost the will to live. This has been a sticking point for viewers for years, as it was the only explanation given for her death onscreen. However, according to an article on Screen Rant, Padmés death has actual basis in real science. Its possible for a broken heart to lead to death, and this wasnt merely a lazy storytelling device. In Revenge of the Sith, Padmé was clearly distressed that Anakin had become Darth Vader, and it was heartbreaking for her to be confronted by the truth. On top of that, Anakin claimed he had turned to the dark side to save Padmé, which likely exacerbated her stress levels. It definitely wasnt easy for Padmé to see her husband become a twisted, evil person, so to learn she was the catalyst for that drastic change had to have been an even more difficult pill to swallow.
