Renault F1 team was rebranded as Alpine F1 team in 2021. The rebranding was part of a wider restructuring of the Renault Group, which aimed to place a sharper focus on key brands such as Renault, Dacia, Alpine, and New Mobility. The Alpine brand is renowned throughout motorsport, with the marque taking victories in the Le Mans 24 Hours and in rallying. Renaults boss stated that the medium-term goal for Renault is to become an EV-only brand, with no sporting focus at all. Renault has been associated with Formula One as both team owner and engine manufacturer for various periods since 1977. The Renault team had won races, but it withdrew at the end of 1985 due to major financial problems. Renault returned to Formula One in 1989 as an engine manufacturer and won five drivers titles and six constructors titles between 1992 and 1997 with Williams and Benetton. Renault bought the Enstone-based team again in 2016 and rebranded it as Renault, but the team didnt win in the following five seasons and was rebranded as Alpine.
