According to recent news articles and interviews, Rick Ness, a veteran gold miner and cast member of Discoverys Gold Rush, has had a tough year. Ness entered an emotional tailspin, which drove him into depression that he addressed early in the reality shows 13th season. Ness lost his mother and all the money he garnered from more than a decade in the industry, which devastated him. Ness sold his mothers house and hoped to rebuild what was lost with Brian “Zee” Zaremba by his side. Ness admitted to Zee that he suffers from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), which is a type of depression thats related to changes in seasons. Ness mentioned that the previous gold mining season drained him, and he was suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder. Ness just had to deal with some personal issues before returning to Gold Rush. Ness intends to return to Gold Rush in the upcoming season.
