Sierra Mist was a lemon-lime flavored soft drink line introduced by PepsiCo in 1999. It was eventually made available in all US markets by 2003 and was a competitor to Sprite. Sierra Mist was sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup and/or sugar from 2000 until 2006, and from 2006 until 2010, it was sweetened with only high-fructose corn syrup. In 2016, it was rebranded as "Mist Twst" but reverted to Sierra Mist in 2018. However, in January 2023, Pepsi announced the discontinuation of the brand, and Sierra Mist was replaced with a new lemon-lime soda called Starry. Starry has a crisper citrus taste with less sweetness than Sierra Mist. PepsiCo did away with Sierra Mist due to its small market share, which was just 0.1% of the overall soda market. The company hopes that Starry will catch on with Gen Z and become a rival to Sprite, which has a 7% share of the soda market. Therefore, Sierra Mist is no longer being produced, and it has been replaced by Starry.
