According to various sources, Sokkas life after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender has been explored in other canon material. Once the world started to become peaceful, Sokka went back to the Southern Water Tribe and eventually became the Chief of the Southern Water Tribe and served on the United Republic Council. The last known sighting of Sokka came in 158 AG, when he was 74 years old. This occasion saw Sokka and others protect Korra, the next Avatar, from a group called Red Lotus. But, by the time The Legend of Korras main story takes place in 170 AG, Sokka had passed away. The cause of his death is believed to be natural, as he would have been between 74-86 years old. Although there is speculation that he may have died in a fight against the Red Lotus, it is not confirmed. It is not known if Sokka had any children or if he stayed with Suki, his love interest.
