Sonia Sutcliffe was the wife of British serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, also known as the Yorkshire Ripper. They married on August 10, 1974, when Sonia was 24 years old, two years after she began treatment for schizophrenia. Peter Sutcliffe began his murder spree two months after they tied the knot. Sonia remained married to him until their divorce in 1994, on grounds of unreasonable behavior. After Peters arrest, Sonia remained loyal to him and visited him at Parkhurst on the Isle of Wight, then at Broadmoor in Berkshire. They separated around 1989, but Sonia still supported him and was his next of kin when he died aged 74 in November 2020. Sonia is now 73 years old and little is known about her life. She was last seen walking arm-in-arm with her now-husband, hairdresser Michael Woodward, in 2018. The couple has reportedly spent most of their married life living apart from each other.
