The Spice Girls were a British girl group that formed in 1994 after an open casting call was put out looking for female singers. The group consisted of Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham, Mel B, and Mel C, and they released their debut single, "Wannabe," in July 1996. As their popularity skyrocketed, they went on to drop a slew of hits, including "Spice Up Your Life," "Who Do You Think You Are," and "Stop". However, Halliwell announced her intentions to leave the band in May 1998, and the group took an indefinite hiatus in December 2000.

Since then, the members of the group have pursued solo careers and their personal lives have flourished. In August 2012, all five of the women reunited to perform a medley of their greatest hits at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. They also announced a worldwide tour in 2019, but Victoria Beckham declined to participate, leading the Spice Girls to cancel the remaining shows on their world tour. As of May 2023, there is no concrete information about another Spice Girls reunion tour.
