Sushant Singh Rajput was an Indian actor who was found dead in his room in Bandra, Mumbai on June 14, 2020. The cause of death was ruled to have been suicide, with official postmortem reports confirming Rajput died of asphyxia due to hanging. The Mumbai Police launched an investigation into the death, which had become a subject of widespread speculation and rumors. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the murder case registered by Bihar Police in 2020, but so far, neither filed a chargesheet nor closed the case. The CBI recorded the statements of several people, including Rajputs girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) registered a case against Chakraborty, her brother, and others who allegedly supplied drugs to Rajput based on chats retrieved from Chakrabortys phone. The NCB arrested Chakraborty, her brother, and others and chargesheeted 33 people in the case this year. The CBI is still investigating Sushants death case, and according to the latest report, the officials are waiting for a response from the US on some technical evidence. Meanwhile, a person who was present in the mortuary when Sushant Singh Rajputs body was brought in for post-mortem said that it was not suicide but murder, as per a new report. However, the CBI has not filed any closure report in the matter so far.
