Ted Beneke is a character in Breaking Bad who was present for all but one season of the show, but his arc came to an abrupt end, leaving viewers wondering what happened to him. In season 4, the IRS caught up with Teds companys tax fraud, and if convicted, Ted would have gone bankrupt with the threat of jail time. With the help of Saul Goodman, Skyler sent two bodyguards to force Ted into signing a check to the IRS. He then panicked and tried to escape before tripping on a rug, suffering a severe neck injury. There was a belief that Ted died, but Skyler visited him in the hospital during season 5, where he promised to never reveal any of her or her familys secrets. It is revealed in season 5 that Ted ended up hospitalized with severe neck trauma, and he has to keep his head in a huge protective brace and his head was completely shaved. He promises Skyler that he wont tell anyone about what happened. According to Christopher Cousins, the actor who played Ted, there was a common belief that Ted remained fearful of the White family for the rest of his life, especially when Walts many murders on Breaking Bad become public knowledge. The actor theorized that Ted became a quadriplegic following his accident, and he was left stuck in a bed and isolated.
