On Friday, October 13th, 1307, King Philip IV of France, in league with Pope Clement V, ordered all Knights Templar to be rounded up and thrown in prison. The Knights were accused of numerous crimes including heresy and treason. They were tortured until they "confessed" to their crimes, and many were ultimately executed. The day chosen for the arrests was Friday the 13th, which has since become associated with bad luck and superstition. However, it is important to note that the association between Friday the 13th and the Knights Templar is a myth. While some of the Knights Templar were arrested on Friday, October 13, 1307, that isnt the origin of the superstition.
