Yolanda Saldívar, the woman who killed Selena Quintanilla-Perez, is currently serving a life sentence in the Mountain View Unit, a maximum-security womens prison in Gatesville, Texas. She was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison after shooting Selena in the back as she tried to flee a motel in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1995. Saldívar has claimed that the shooting was an accident, but Selenas family and others believe that it was intentional. Saldívar has spent nearly 30 years behind bars and has expressed remorse for killing Selena. She hopes to reconnect with her family and friends if she gets out of prison and is eligible for parole in March 2025.
