Timothy McVeigh was the primary suspect in the Oklahoma City bombing that killed 168 people, including eight federal agents, on April 19, 1995. He was arrested 90 minutes after the bombing when an observant Oklahoma State Trooper pulled him over about 80 miles north of Oklahoma City for a missing license plate on his yellow Mercury Marquis and discovered that he had a concealed weapon. The evidence began adding up, and agents found traces of the chemicals used in the explosion on McVeigh’s clothes and a business card on which McVeigh had suspiciously scribbled, “TNT @ $5/stick, need more” . McVeigh was convicted and sentenced to death in June 1997 for the murders of the eight federal agents who were killed in the bombing. He was executed by lethal injection on June 11, 2001, at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute, Indiana.
