Tupac Shakur was a rapper who was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996. He was sitting in a car with Suge Knight, the head of his record label, when a white Cadillac pulled up alongside and a gunman opened fire, striking Tupac multiple times. He died from his injuries six days later. The identity of his killer has been the subject of much speculation and investigation over the years. In 2023, a witness to the shooting, Duane Davis, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder following an indictment by a grand jury in Nevada. Davis was a member of the Southside Crips, a gang from Compton, California, who were believed to have executed the killing. Tupac was tied to the Mob Piru Bloods, a street gang that often battled with the Crips over territory and personal slights. The investigation into Tupacs murder has been revived several times over the years, and there have been various twists and turns in the case, including the killing of Orlando Anderson, who was widely believed to have been the passenger that shot Tupac, in a drug-related shoot-out in Compton.
