Coy Gibbs, the father of Ty Gibbs and son of Joe Gibbs, died in his sleep on November 6, 2022, at the age of 49. Coy Gibbs was a co-owner of Joe Gibbs Racing, the team founded by his father, and served as the chief operating officer and vice chairman. He was also a former college football player at Stanford University. Coy Gibbs was in Phoenix celebrating his son Tys Xfinity Series championship win when he passed away. Ty Gibbs declined to discuss his fathers sudden death and has not made any public statements since the confirmation of his fathers death.
