In 2004, David and Victoria Beckham were involved in a celebrity scandal after their former personal assistant, Rebecca Loos, claimed she had a four-month relationship with David. Loos claimed that she slept with David four times over a four-month period while working for him in Madrid. David denied the allegations, calling them "ludicrous". Loos said she had no reason to lie and that she could prove the affair took place. The allegations caused a media frenzy and put pressure on David and Victorias marriage. Loos made as much as £1m through interviews and TV roles related to her Beckham story, including appearances on shows such as Celebrity Love Island and The X Factor: Battle of the Stars.
In 2023, Loos spoke out about the alleged affair in a tell-all interview with the Daily Mail. She believes it is time for David to "take responsibility" for his past actions. Loos claims that David developed a "soft spot" for her and allegedly tried to hold her hand and would sneakily touch her when they were around other people. Davids Netflix documentary, "Beckham," showed both David and Victoria addressing the infidelity rumors that plagued the former England captain in the early 2000s. While he spoke about the affair claims in the documentary, Loos felt David was "indirectly suggesting" that she was the one who "made Victoria suffer".
