Anaphase II is the third stage in meiosis II, which is the second round of nuclear division that occurs during the formation of gametes. During anaphase II, the chromatids split at the centromere and migrate along the spindle fibers to opposite poles of the cell. The separation and movement of chromatids is due to the shortening of the kinetochore microtubules. At the end of anaphase II, each pole of the cell has a complete set of chromosomes, with each chromosome consisting of a single chromatid.
