The PS5 uses an HDMI 2.1 cable, which is the minimum HDMI standard for 4K gameplay at 120Hz. The HDMI 2.1 cable is included in the PS5 kit. The HDMI 2.1 connection allows the PS5 to support higher frame rates up to 120 frames per second (fps) . The PS5 is also able to output in 8K at 60fps and supports games in 4K that are running at 60 or 120fps. It is important to note that HDMI 2.1 cables still work in HDMI 2.0 ports, but the PS5 wont benefit from the max capabilities of the HDMI 2.1 cable. If you have an HDMI 2.0 TV, you can use your previous cable, but if you have an HDMI 2.1 TV, you must use the included HDMI 2.1 cable to experience the full potential of the PS5.
