130R is a corner in the Suzuka International Racing Course, a motorsport race track in Japan. It is a left-hander that follows a long drag from the Spoon Curve and is approached at close to 300 km/h. The "R" in 130R stands for radians, not radius, and it is so named because of its metric radius. The corner is one of the most challenging in Formula 1 history and requires a great deal of skill and bravery from drivers. The corner used to have a huge bump on the apex, which made it even more challenging, but it was ironed out for safety reasons in 2004. Following two major accidents in 2002 and 2003, the corner was redesigned as a double-apex section, one with an 85 m radius, and then a second featuring a 340 m radius, leading to a much closer Casio triangle (chicane), with the chicane becoming a "bus stop" type for motorcycles.
