A 2 Tier AC in Indian Railways refers to the air-conditioned coach that has sleeping berths across eight bays. Berths are usually arranged in two tiers in bays of six: four across the width of the coach and two lengthwise across the corridor, with curtains along the corridor. Bedding is included in the fare. A coach can carry 48 (full coach) or 20 passengers (half coach) . The 2 Tier AC coach has four berths facing each other in a lower+upper configuration and two side lower berths forming one bay. The bench in AC 2 Tier is the same size as AC 3 Tier but seats only two people each instead of three, making it more comfortable for passengers.
