2S in train coach refers to the second seating class for passengers in Indian Railways. In this class, the seats are in the form of benches, which may or may not have cushions, and can be joined or have a little distance between them. The 2S class is the lowest reserved class in Indian trains and is also known as the second sitting class. It is a budget-friendly coach for the major category of passengers and is generally preferred for day travel. The seats in 2S coaches are usually arranged in a 3x3 layout, but some coaches can also have a seating arrangement of 3x2. 2S coaches do not have the facility of air conditioning, and passengers have to pre-book their seats. It is a good option for short journeys of 4-5 hours, but for long journeys, passengers can book a sleeper/AC berth.
