Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is a fellowship of people who come together to solve their drinking problem. AA meetings are gatherings of individuals who share their experiences, strength, and hope with each other to help each other recover from alcoholism. These meetings are free and open to anyone who has a desire to stop drinking.

AA meetings can be either open or closed. Open meetings allow nonalcoholics to attend as observers, while closed meetings are for AA members only or for those who have a drinking problem and "have a desire to stop drinking". To attend an AA meeting, one can simply find a meeting that is convenient and turn up. There is no signing in or registration required. AA meetings are held in various locations, including community centers, churches, and other public places.
