A B movie, or B film, is a type of low-budget commercial motion picture that is often made quickly and cheaply and is often considered to have little artistic value. Originally, during the Golden Age of Hollywood, this term specifically referred to films meant to be shown as the second part of a double feature, after the more expensive "A" movie. These movies were often associated with horror, horny teenagers, and general raunchiness, and were made with lesser-known actors and significantly less money. However, in post-Golden Age usage, the term "B movie" has evolved to encompass a wide spectrum of films, ranging from sensationalistic exploitation films to independent arthouse productions. Latter-day B movies still sometimes inspire multiple sequels, but series are less common. Today, the term "B movie" is used in a broader sense to refer to any film thats made with limited resources. B movies can be cheesy science fiction movies, taut modern thrillers, or low-budget horror films. Some B movies are so bad theyre good, and others are just flat-out amazing.
