BOLO is an acronym used in law enforcement that stands for "be on the lookout". It is a broadcast issued from law enforcement to alert officers to be on the lookout for a suspect or item of interest. BOLOs are most often issued in situations where a criminal is on the run from law enforcement officers. They are primarily used for individuals who are classified as dangerous and for crimes of high priority. BOLOs can be sent via computer, radio, paper, smartphone apps, and internet web pages. BOLO Mobile is a photo sharing application for law enforcement only that gives police instant access to photos they need. It is an encrypted police-only tool that contains only photos and data from participating law enforcement groups.
