A commercial vehicle is any type of motor vehicle used for transporting goods or paying passengers. The United States defines a "commercial motor vehicle" as any self-propelled or towed vehicle used for business purposes, such as transporting persons for hire, compensation, or profit, or primarily for the transportation of property. The European Union defines a "commercial motor vehicle" as any motorized road vehicle designed for and capable of transporting more than nine persons, including the driver, or goods, whether for payment or not. Commercial vehicles may include fleet vehicles, company cars, or other vehicles used for business purposes. Examples of commercial vehicles include semi-trucks, pickup trucks, buses, and heavy equipment. In the United States, vehicles designed to carry more than 15 passengers are considered commercial vehicles.
