A DisplayPort (DP) cable is a digital interface designed to deliver video and audio over a singular cable. It is used to connect a computer or other device to a monitor or display device. DisplayPort offers several advantages over other display interface standards, including support for high-resolution displays, high refresh rates, and the ability to transmit audio and video over a single cable. DisplayPort connectors come in two sizes: Standard DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort (mDP). While these connectors differ in shape, they both have 20-pins and support the same features. All features of DisplayPort will function across any DisplayPort cable, and DisplayPort does not have multiple cable designs. DP cables can support up to 7680 X 4320 resolution transmission of pictures and videos, making them perfect for gaming. DP cables can also be used in multipurpose applications such as dual-screen mirror mode, extend mode, and multi-split-screen mode. DP cables can connect a computer with a DP female interface to a display device with an HDMI female interface, such as a TV, monitor, or projector.
