A femboy is a slang term used to refer to a male who displays traditionally feminine characteristics, such as wearing dresses, skirts, and/or thigh-highs. It is a portmanteau of feminine and boy. Femboys may present themselves femininely for any reason, and the way they do so is typically through the way they dress, often opting for typically girls clothes. The term femboy emerged by at least the 1990s and gained traction online, used in both sexual and non-sexual contexts. Femboy says nothing about ones sexuality, and femboys may be straight, gay, bisexual, or fall anywhere else on the LGBT spectrum. It is important to be mindful and respectful of every individuals preferences and not assume anything about their sexuality.
