A foot doctor is called a podiatrist, also known as a doctor of podiatric medicine (DPM) . Podiatrists are medical specialists who are trained to treat issues in the foot, ankle, and lower leg. They can diagnose foot problems like skin and nail diseases, congenital deformities, tumors, and ulcers. Podiatrists can also set fractures, write prescriptions, recommend physical therapy, and perform surgery as needed. They can treat a wide range of medical conditions that affect the feet, including arthritis, injuries, bunions, hammer toes, skin conditions, and more. Podiatrists have their own schools and professional associations, and they earn a DPM degree instead of an MD degree.
