An HC2 certificate is a certificate that provides full help with health costs to those who are eligible for the NHS Low Income Scheme. If you receive an HC2 certificate, you are entitled to free NHS prescriptions, free NHS dental treatment, free NHS sight tests, help with the cost of glasses or contact lenses, help with the cost of travelling to receive NHS treatment, and free NHS wigs and fabric supports. The certificate is usually valid for between 6 months and 5 years, depending on your circumstances. If you lose or damage your certificate, you can request a replacement, which will be sent to you within 10 working days. If your financial circumstances change after you receive your certificate, you dont need to tell the NHS Low Income Scheme in most cases. You can continue to use your certificate until it expires. If you still need help with your health costs when your certificate expires, you must re-apply by completing a new HC1 form.
