A Hoco proposal is a creative and often elaborate way that high schoolers ask each other to the Homecoming dance. It is similar to the "Promposal," but on a smaller scale. In the past, it was typically the boy who asked the girl to Homecoming, but now anyone can ask anyone else, as long as its done in an over-the-top way. The goal of a Hoco proposal is to make the invitation memorable and fun for both the person doing the asking and the person being asked, and to add excitement and anticipation to the Homecoming experience. There are many ways to pull off a Hoco proposal, and the more original the idea, the better. Some popular Hoco proposal ideas include:
- Writing the invitation in the clouds with a skywriting plane
- Ordering a pizza with pepperonis in the shape of a heart and including a note that reads, "I know this is kind of cheesy, but will you go to Homecoming with me?"
- Bringing a dog that wears a sign that says, "Will you ruff it with me at Hoco?"
- Creating a poster with a favorite TV show or movie reference, such as "Ill be there for you at HoCo, will you be there for me too?" (Friends) or "Before were stuck in the Upside Down, Homecoming?" (Stranger Things)
It is important to remember that not everyone enjoys public displays of affection, and a rejected Hoco proposal can cause negative emotions for both parties. Therefore, it is essential to consider the interests and preferences of both parties when planning a Hoco proposal.
