Jam is a new feature on Spotify that allows users to have a personalized, real-time listening session with their friends or family. Premium subscribers can start a Jam and invite others to contribute through a shared queue, and anyone on Spotify can join. Jam combines personalization technology with social features to take real-time listening with pals to the next level.
Heres how to use Jam on Spotify:
- Premium listeners everywhere can start a Jam on any non-private playlist or track, through the three-dot menu or from the speaker icon.
- To join a Jam, tap on the invitation link sent to you by your friend, or scan the QR code, or tap your phones together if you’re logged in on Spotify and your Bluetooth is turned on.
- Anyone in a Jam can control what’s playing on the speaker, play, pause, skip, change the volume, and add songs.
- Premium users can manage who’s in the Jam, the track order, and remove any songs from the lineup by default. Hosts can also enable guest controls that give other Jam participants the ability to remove tracks or change the song order.
- Jam works with smart speakers and most Bluetooth speakers. Users on the same WiFi will receive an invitation to your Jam. If both you and others have Bluetooth permissions enabled, others will receive an invitation to your Jam by tapping your phone.
- Premium users can invite anyone on Spotify, Free or Premium, to join and add songs to the queue together, whether in-person or virtually.
Jam is a fun, intuitive, and collaborative social listening experience that allows everyone to share the queue and add songs to the playlist, making it a unique, new experience to listen together with friends.
