Kenobi is a name that refers to a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise, specifically Obi-Wan Kenobi. He is a legendary Jedi Master who was a noble man and gifted in the ways of the Force. He trained Anakin Skywalker, served as a general in the Republic Army during the Clone Wars, and guided Luke Skywalker as a mentor. As a Padawan, he was the headstrong apprentice to Qui-Gon Jinn. After the fall of the Jedi Order, he assumed the alias "Ben" and lived in exile on Tatooine, where he maintained his sworn duty to watch over Luke Skywalker. The name "Kenobi" is believed to be an homage to the samurai films of Akira Kurosawa and to Japanese culture. "An obi is the sash used to tie a kimono, ken is Japanese for sword and wan sounds somewhat like the Japanese honorific san".
