A Kodiak shark is not a known term or concept. However, there is a brand called Kodiak Cakes that produces hearty flapjack and waffle mixes. The company was founded in 1982 when Penny Clark sent her 8-year-old son into the neighborhood with a red wagon full of paper bags that were filled with her father’s heirloom flapjack mix and simple ingredients. The brand appeared on Shark Tank in episode 528, where the co-founders, Cameron Smith and Joel Clark, asked for $500,000 in return for 10% of their business, but they declined all offers. Despite not getting a deal, Kodiak Cakes has become a successful business, with good distribution in major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Safeway, Albertson’s, The Fresh Market, and Target stores nationwide.
