A loveseat is essentially a two-seat chair, which can be one of two styles. One style, also known as "British two-seaters," is essentially synonymous with a "two-seat couch." It typically has two upholstered seats, is approximately 50" in seating length, and is typically shorter in length than a settee. The other style, known as a tête-à-tête, courting bench, kissing bench, gossips chair, or conversation bench, is any form of two-seat furniture where the two seats are arranged in an S shape, so that two persons can converse while looking at each other and being within arms reach, while at the same time typically retaining a modest barrier between them.

The only technical difference between a sofa and a loveseat is the size. A 2-seater sofa and a loveseat are both designed for two people but are proportioned slightly differently. Loveseats tend to be smaller in size, with ours ranging from 117cm to 162cm in width, while our 2-seater sofas start from 155cm for our most compact styles and go up to 195cm. Loveseats are often used as complementary pieces, typically arranged opposite the sofa, these two-person couches add more seating to your layout. Loveseats are practical options on small patios where a large sofa might overwhelm your space or restrict movement.
