A luchador is a professional wrestler who performs in the Mexican style of wrestling known as lucha libre. Luchadores are known for their colorful costumes and acrobatic moves, and they are traditionally divided into two categories: rudos (the "bad guys" who bend or break the rules) and técnicos (the "good guys" who play by the rules and perform more complex and spectacular moves) . Luchadores are also known for their use of masks, which are often brightly colored and decorated with intricate designs. Lucha libre wrestlers usually come from extended wrestling families who form their own stables. While the athleticism needed to be a luchador is very real, the true role of the luchador is one of entertainer, and they need to be semi-decent actors to pull off the menacing, hateful personas that they act out night after night in the ring.
