A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a paraprofessional who works in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) . RBTs provide direct services to individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities to help them learn new skills and improve their behavior. They use ABA techniques to teach skills such as communication, socialization, and self-care, and to reduce problem behaviors such as aggression and self-injury. RBTs work in a variety of settings, including homes, schools, and clinics. They may work one-on-one with a client or in a group setting. RBTs collect data on the clients progress and report it to the supervising BCBA or BCaBA. RBT certification is a paraprofessional certification in behavior analysis certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) . RBTs assist in delivering behavior-analytic services and practice under the direction and close supervision of an RBT Supervisor and/or an RBT Requirements Coordinator, who is responsible for all work an RBT performs. RBTs have varying job responsibilities depending on the nature of their employment and previous experience. RBTs don’t require as much training or have to get as much practical experience as applied behavior analysts or their assistants before getting started in the business.
