An RPG weapon is a rocket-propelled grenade launcher that launches rockets equipped with an explosive warhead. It is a shoulder-fired missile weapon that can be carried by an individual soldier and is frequently used as an anti-tank weapon. RPGs are stabilized in flight with fins and can be reloaded with new rocket-propelled grenades or be single-use. RPGs with high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) warheads are very effective against lightly armored vehicles such as armored personnel carriers (APCs) and armored cars. The RPG-7 is a portable, reusable, unguided, shoulder-launched, anti-tank, rocket-propelled grenade launcher that is the most widely used RPG weapon. It was designed by the Soviet Union and is now manufactured by the Russian company Bazalt. The RPG-7 has become a weapon of choice among terrorists and insurgents. It is inexpensive, easy to use, and with over nine million made, readily available worldwide. The RPG-7 can be used against many targets, including vehicles, fortified positions, personnel, and most recently, against helicopters.
