A ruddy complexion is a skin condition that presents itself as red, blotchy, and dull. It describes skin that appears reddish in tone, looking possibly sunburned, blotchy, uneven, and dull. It can be anywhere on the skin, such as the nose, cheeks, or under the eyes, and it might feel rough and dry to the touch. Ruddy skin may be inherited genetically or caused by hormones, acne, infections, topical retinoids, aging, and poor lifestyle habits. Though any skin type can experience a ruddy complexion, its most often associated with sensitive or sensitized skin types, and it is most associated with lighter skin tones. Ruddy skin is often a precursor to rosacea, which is a chronic inflammatory condition that usually affects the face.
