A seahawk is not a real bird species, but rather a nickname for either an osprey or a skua. The Seattle Seahawks, a professional American football team, use a captive-bred Augur hawk named Taima as their mascot. The osprey, also known as a sea hawk, is a large fish-eating bird of prey found on every continent except Antarctica. It is a spectacularly large raptor, reaching more than 60 cm in length and 180 cm across the wings, and is brown on the upperparts and predominantly greyish on the head and underparts. Ospreys are unique among North American hawks in that fish make up 99 percent of their diet, and they are skilled aerial acrobats that can be seen plunging from heights up to 40 meters in pursuit of a meal.
