The Sooner Schooner is the official mascot of the sports teams of the University of Oklahoma Sooners. It is a scaled-down replica of the Studebaker Conestoga wagon used by settlers of the Oklahoma Territory around the time of the Land Run of 1889 and is considered the first mobile home. The Schooner is always pulled by two white ponies named Boomer and Sooner. The ponies are kept at the Bartlett Ranch in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. The Sooner Schooner is maintained and driven by members of the RUF/NEKS, the universitys all-male spirit organization, as well as members of the RUF/NEK Lil Sis, the universitys all-female spirit organization. The costumed mascots that represent the University of Oklahoma and the OU Athletics Department are Boomer and Sooner. They are an extension of the Sooner Schooner and its horses to be enjoyed by fans -- especially children -- at all OU athletics contests. Boomer is the blue-eyed horse and Sooner is the brown-eyed horse. They feature traditional collegiate gear as part of their regular uniforms, but they also don team uniforms for football and mens and womens basketball games.
