Stabilitrak is a traction control system that is designed to prevent loss of traction of the driven road wheels. It is a more advanced system than electronic stability control (ESC) and can keep the driver safer on the road. Stabilitrak helps the driver to drive in a straight line by monitoring and adjusting the steering, braking, and traction of the vehicle. It uses sensors to figure out the position of the steering wheel and tires and checks that they match the direction the vehicle is moving. If it senses that the vehicle seems to be out of control, it makes automatic adjustments to bring it back under the drivers control by applying brake pressure to certain wheels, encouraging the car to straighten out. If there is an issue with the Stabilitrak system of the vehicle, a warning notification will appear on the dashboard lights, such as "Service Stabilitrak".
