A Starlink train is a string of bright lights in the sky made up of numerous satellites launched by SpaceX to provide internet coverage across the globe. These trains can look rather "otherworldly" and have prompted numerous UFO-sighting reports when they first took to the skies. The satellites are released into space and will spin in orbit around Earth, unfolding their solar panels and laying flat to resist gravitys pull back to Earth. They then point their panels directly up and their antennae directly down toward Earth to communicate data/internet for their customers.

The long lines of lights are only visible shortly after launch, once they climb to their operating altitude of 340 miles (550 kilometers) they disperse and are far more difficult to differentiate against the backdrop of stars. However, on a clear night, stargazers can still look up and see the bright satellites in the sky. If youre lucky enough to see them shortly after deploying, you might even see them appear as a "Starlink satellite train".

There are ample opportunities to set your sights on catching a glimpse of the infamous "Starlink train" given the high numbers of regular Starlink launches. A real-time map of Starlink satellites and their locations can be found on the SpaceX website.
