A T Level is a vocational qualification aimed at 16 to 19-year-olds in England, which focuses more on practical subjects than academic ones. Each T Level course lasts two years and is roughly equivalent to three A-levels. T Levels are new two-year courses equivalent in size to three A levels, and they combine classroom study with industry placements so that students gain the skills and experience they need to progress into work, further study or an apprenticeship. Students who complete a T Level will receive an overall grade of pass, merit, distinction or distinction* and will be awarded with a nationally recognized certificate showing a breakdown of what they’ve achieved. T Levels are graded on a combination of exams, coursework, and completion of the industry placement. In terms of qualification levels, T Levels are equivalent to level 3 qualifications, which include A-levels, access to higher education diplomas, advanced apprenticeships, applied generals, international Baccalaureate diplomas, music grades 6, 7 and 8, and tech levels.
