An Aggie is a student at Texas A&M University. The term "Aggie" began to be used in the 1920s, and in 1949, when the yearbook changed its name from The Longhorn to Aggieland, Aggie became the official student body nickname. The nickname "Aggie" was once common at land-grant or "ag" (agriculture) schools in many states. The official school colors are maroon and white, and the mascot is a rough collie named Reveille. Texas A&M has a rich tradition and unique culture, and there are many terms and phrases that are unique to Texas A&M, such as "Gig em" and "Howdy". Aggies have great loyalty and dedication to one another and to Texas A&M, which is known as the Aggie Spirit.
