A torbie cat is a type of cat with a coat that combines the tortoiseshell and tabby patterns. The term "torbie" is short for tortoiseshell-tabby, and these cats are sometimes referred to as "reverse torties". Torbies have tabby stripes but also tortoiseshell markings, which can be shades of orange, red, yellow, or cream mixed with shades of dark brown or black fur. The black part of their coat is free of stripes, which distinguishes them from torties. Torbies are also sometimes called "patched tabbies" or "reverse calicos". Male torbies are rare, as with all tortoiseshell cats, and are considered "unicorn cats". Torbies are known for their sassy personality, which is sometimes referred to as "toritude".
